e.g. Sweet Moon village

Moo [หมู่, H̄mū̀]

Moo is a number used to indicate a small area officially specified in your house registration book issued by the government. The number is used to group houses in small area in the same village or on the same street.

Road part

Soi

Soi means alley. Most alley in Thailand is referenced by its main road’s name with running number. Alleys with odd number on one side of the road and even number on the other side. The more the alley is near to the center of a city the more it has smaller number. So the number decreases when you go inbound and increase when you go outbound.

e.g.: Soi Sukhumvit 85

e.g.: Soi Petchksem 30

When new alleys were built between the two old alleys, the ‘/’ (slash) with number was added to each name referenced to one of the old alley.

e.g.: If two new alley were added between Sukumvit 30 and Sukhumvit 32, remember even number on the same side, the new alley might be named as

Sukhumvit 30/1 and Sukhumvit 30/2

Road

Road means the main road.

e.g. Sukhumvit Rd

Sometime you can combine the Road and Soi parts together if they have the same name.

e.g. “Soi Sukhumvit 85, Sukhumvit Road” can become “Sukhumvit 85 Rd”.

e.g. “Soi Petchkasem 80, Petchkasem Road” can become “Petchkasem 80 Rd”
